Tropical Flower Arranging

It is easy and fun to arrange your beautiful Hawaiian tropical flowers. You don't need to be a professional to create an appealing tropical flower arrangement.

Fill a medium to large vase or tray with water and floral foam. Choose the largest or most interesting flowers as focal points. Build the rest of your arrangement around your focal point, varying the height of the flowers. Foliage greens can be cut and folded as needed to fill in spaces or to hide the floral foam if you are doing a tray arrangement.

Protea Bouquets
Trim 1/2 inch off stems before arranging. Change water every 2 days. Protea thrive on a generous amount of water, If you happen to notice leaves changing colors, don't be alarmed. This is the nature of the flower and in no way takes away from the quality or beauty of the flowers. To dry your protea, it is best to hang the flowers upside down in a dark area. You can also let them dry in your display outside of water. Avoid direct sunlight, and extreme temperatures. Keeping it "cool" will prolong the life of the flower.

Protea Arrangements
Proteas are very thirsty flowers. Water every 2 days over the sink. The container is lined and holds water. As the protea pass their peak, you can dry them by allowing the water to evaporate. Placing the arrangement in a dry and well ventilated area out of direct sunlight will allow them to dry completely in 4 to 6 weeks, maintaining many of their wonderful colors and textures.
